Tyler Young Finishes Fifth in Revolution Oil 250
Starting outside fast qualifier Caleb Holman, Tyler chased Holman for much of the first 125-lap segment while trying to stave off the challenges of Ryan Heavner, Allen Purkhiser and Lucas Ransone.
"We were actually really good all day up until that point," Tyler explained after the race. "We had some really fun racing going on throughout the first segment. Caleb had a strong car and so did Ryan and Allen. You always know Lucas and J.P. Morgan are just back there ready to charge as well. That's why I decided that as fast as we were, I felt like we needed a little more for the second half."
Crew Chief Cody Sauls and the team decided to tighten up the car during the 10 minute intermission. Tyler looked stout to start the final 125-lap segment and mixed it up with the leaders before ending up fifth at the checkers.
"We were really close," Tyler lamented with a smile. "I think we tightened it up just a hair too much because right there at the end it just wouldn't turn for me in the center the way I needed it to. Congratulations to (winner) Allen Purkhiser and his team. They had us all covered in that second half tonight."
Tyler and the team will now shift their focus from the Pro Cup car to their NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race truck as they prepare to do battle for the fourth time this season in that series when they compete at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Va. this Saturday.
