Tyler Young Supports Education Program for Post-Combat Veterans

Press ReleasesMOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 21, 2011) – CARS Pro Cup Series driver Tyler Young, a major supporter of Manpower to Horsepower, will carry the non-profit organization for post-combat veterans on his Chevrolet in Saturday’s CARS Pro Cup 200 at Myrtle Beach [S.C.] Speedway.

It is the third time this year and the second straight race in which the Midland, Texas, native has provided publicity for the unique program.

“These people have given so much for us,” Young said. “I’m glad I can let people know about this wonderful program via my race car. We all owe them a tremendous amount for preserving our freedom so we can do what we enjoy.”

The 21-year-old Young sported the Manpower to Horsepower logo on his car’s hood two weeks ago when he earned his first career pole at Hickory [N.C.] Motor Speedway. In 11 races this year, Young has posted five top-5s and nine top-10s, led 250 laps and completed 95 percent of the laps run.

In its second year, Manpower to Horsepower is an organization that creates an atmosphere of mentoring, friendship and rehabilitation through motorsports for post-combat veterans. Its facility serves as a full service, hands-on rehabilitation center where veterans can work together while receiving real racing exposure at the shop and the tracks. Affiliated with the motorsports management program at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, it is possible for veterans to obtain a certificate or an associate degree via the program.
