RUFFIN'S NIGHT IN CONCORD ENDS WITH BROKEN OIL FITTING

Press ReleasesNo driver is expected to be completely confident about the half-mile Concord Speedway. The track's eccentricities make it a difficult stop for veterans and rookies alike. USAR Pro Cup Series rookie Logan Ruffin, admittedly, isn't an exception; however, you would have never noticed it by the level of comfort the Memphis, Tenn. native had with his Turner Motorsports Chevrolet this past Saturday night in the Cabarrus Boys & Girls Club 250.

Ruffin, an astute qualifier as of late, placed his No. 31 Chevrolet inside the second row during the day's time trial session. Starting third at the infamously tricky track proved to be a coup for Ruffin, who ran inside the top five until an aluminum oil fitting broke, forcing the car to drop oil onto the track. The issue prompted two black flag penalties inside the final 20 laps.

Ruffin wouldn't see the finish as the problem with the oil fitting proved to be inoperable. The night didn't go without a high note, however, as Ruffin was able to run as high as first-place for a four-lap stint following a fuel-only pit stop prior to a lap 149 restart.

The No. 31 Chevrolet was credited with a 12th-place finish.

Ruffin and the Turner Motorsports crew -- still in the thick of the USAR Pro Cup Series standings with positions two thru six separated by only 7 points -- will now turn their attention to Bristol Motor Speedway, the sight of the next race on the USAR schedule on Saturday, September 11. In preparation for the "American Freedom Spectacular," Ruffin and team took part in a day-long test session at Bristol on Monday.
